Friend's Hiking Club was originated by Bruce Roscoe of Prescott in 1996. Formerly of Tempe, Bruce "caught the hiking bug" in his 40's. So enthusiastic was he that he wanted to share his new-found passion with others. The first trip that he planned involved a trip to Havasu for 36 people. As you might imagine, the logistics of THAT are daunting. Unfazed by this first experience, and with the help of some of the "members", Bruce planned dayhikes, backpacks and canoe trips. Soon came monthly get-togethers so that new people could be introduced to the current members of the "club". Bruce moved to Prescott about 5 years ago, and is not active in the club, but the club continued to gather new members interested in exploring Arizona and the surrounding areas., AZ.
